I do not know what it is with Rovers, but we have been here so many times before and they always seem to fade badly after a strong start to their season. You can pretty much set your watch by them and whilst this goes back even further, in the last five seasons alone......

 

23/24  they collected 31 points from the first 23 games, 22 from the second 23. 

22/23  39 and 30

21/22 42 and 27

20/21 32 and 25

19/20 35 and 28

 

This season they had 38 points at the halfway stage and are on course for 20 in the second half of the campaign at present.

 

We have discussed this multiple times in the past, I have no reason for it, they have had multiple managers across the last decade, some of them very good, but nothing changes and now, I suspect, all connected with the club just expect form to nosedive after Christmas.

 

This usually goes double at Ewood Park, but I cannot be bothered (sorry) to highlight those numbers as well, maybe another day. Boro are chasing down a top 6 spot and they have also been here before and are the reverse of Rovers, often doing their better work as winter turns into spring. They moved up from 12th to 8th late last season and in 22/23 were 14th at Christmas and finished 4th. They were 11th at the end of February and are on the rise again. Supporters always follow them loyally, they will have 3,300 supporters at the game for a five hour round trip on a working day and they will be making all the noise with Rovers' fans, perhaps surprisingly thinking they have seen this all before and know how this movie ends! Away win.
