DIJON - LILLE
DIJON
It was a disappointing result for Dijon last round away at Montpellier. They found the net early in the first half, but reduced offensive efforts afterwards and focused only on killing the game in midfield. It was a poor strategy, and in the end they paid with 2 points (finished 1-1).
Dijon were always more aggressive on home ground, so a change in attitude should be expected, especially since this is the first home game of 2017.
Their preferred system so far was 5-3-2, but last round they used 5 midfielders. It seems to have been a better choice, since they agglomerated the midfield and there were no spaces available for opponents.
No new absence for Dijon.
LILLE
Coach Collot took everyone by surprise last round and started with 19 years old winger Terrier in the lineup. This was a weird choice, to say the least, especially considering that skilled and experienced players like De Preville, Bautheac, Amalfitano and even Palmieri were only on the bench.
Needless to say that Terrier's performance was hugely disappointing, mostly because he insisted on dribbling opponents, even when there was the opportunity to deliver a key pass.
There is no way of knowing if Terrier will continue in the lineup, but if it happens, then Lille won’t be able to achieve full offensive potential.
Getting back to the game against St Etienne last week, Lille dominated, especially in second half, but played around with opportunities and had to settle with a draw (finished 1-1).
Lille will once again miss midfielder Mavuba, but welcome back defender Sunzu.
BETTING
Lille have a small advantage that is fully reflected in the odds, as bookies did well to adjust prices. Dijon may compensate through extra efforts, and in the end both sides could easily split points.
