Dijon - Toulouse

Toulouse XP numbers give them an extra 14 points, 27 instead of 13, but that inflated number would still leave them bottom of Ligue 1 and the truth is their confidence is not just shot it has been blown to smithereens and ahead of a home game with Strasbourg last month my notes included.........

However, Toulouse are in freefall and have gone 0-1-11 through 12 starts since their last win in mid October, scoring just 0.83 goals pg and conceding 2.58 through that sequence and that makes it hard to win ! Runs like this are incredibly difficult to get out of, you need luck when none is forthcoming and confidence is shot, so falling behind, immediately becomes a huge mountain to climb. It has now got to the stage where it feels like a season in the second tier might actually benefit them, Toulouse have basically been in a three season relegation battle and won just 20 of 105 starts and have gone from bad to worse this season and need to press the restart button and that might be easier in Ligue 2 and many teams have ultimately  benefited from that.

They lost that 1-0 and their four subsequent outings all without scoring and they shipped 8 goals in their last three, they have not troubled the scoreboard since January 11th, that's over 700 minutes of football !

Dijon are only outside the relegation playoff spot on goal difference, so should be up for this ahead of a tough trip to Starsbourg next time out and they will welcome the lesser level of competition, after playing Monaco, Bordeaux and PSG (twice) in their last four starts. Dijon have overcome a poor start to this season and they trailed Toulouse by six points through 7 games, picking up a point per game more over the last 20 outings. Dijon to record a 4th straight h2h win in this fixture.
