Bottom 2, Bremen are at least within touching distance of survival six points adrift of Mainz in 15th and three off the relegation playoff spot, Paderborn are all but relegated and five points worse off.

 

 

A draw has no value to either team and what already looks a lost cause for the host, would become the same for Bremen should they come away without all three points. I suspect they will be happier back on the road where they have beaten Freiburg and Schalke on their last two away days and the drop in level of opposition ,following back to back home defeats to Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg (two of only seven teams with positive ITB numbers for the season). They more than held their own against the latter last Sunday and their overall level of performance has been pretty good since the restart with 7 points and three clean sheets.

 

Both teams have negative ITB stats of course, but Bremen are a net +45 over Paderborn for the season and there can be few doubts they are the better team. Werder are a big club and have spent 55 of the last 56 seasons in the Bundesliga, their budget is four times that of Paderborn who were third tier in 17-18 and cut their cloth for this season almost in preparation for a return to 2.Bundesliga.

 

Bremen have collected 76% of their points on the road and arrive at a team who have lost 11 of 15 at home with a chance of survival and could hardly hope for a better fixture and it should be win or "go out on their shield" in the quest for three points.
