Sampdoria are bottom of the table , four points from safety and whilst their numbers are a little better than that, they are finding winning incredibly difficult and that extends way back to last season and since February , they have beaten only one non relegated team ( 21 games total). They have played most of their recent games "close" though, with both teams scoring in 5/6 starts, two 1-1 draws and three defeats all by the same 2-1 scoreline. 

 

Roma will go 4th with the win and with the added bonus of pushing Lazio down to 5th. Their last four starts in all competitions have seen both teams score and they won both of the league games in that sequence 2-1. You can probably already see where I am going with this!

 

When I ran the Serie A numbers during the international break I noted that the Giallorossi's BC and xG numbers are league best and really eye-catching, to play seven games and concede so little , whilst creating so much, highlights the improvement made under Jose Mourinho. At the time they were 26-2 BC's, 78-40 ITB and 16.6-4.9 xG and those are beyond elite level totals. In the two subsequent starts they are a respective 6-0 , 20-10 and 4.05-1.03 and as they included a trip to the San Siro to play Inter, it is very difficult not to be impressed and they surely have further improvement,in terms of results, to come, but they are finding it hard not to concede a goal.
