A free newsletter is sent out once or twice per month to everyone in my database, it is basically an easy way to keep up todate with everything happening at clubgowi, but it also usually contains some statistics or previews not found as free to view content elsewhere. For example, they was one yesterday, it contained links to articles and stats that have appeared on the website which some people might have missed, the preview below, notes on a Championship team (not Forest) in the bottom half of the table on the "up" and a sign up offer exclusive to free newsletter readers, which gave a 54% saving. If you did not receive a copy, you are not on the list and you should be ! Just email and ask to go onto the free mailing list, as the name suggests, it costs nothing !
Championship: Bristol City- Nottingham Forest
This was always going to be a season of transition for City under Nigel Pearson and on opening day I wrote...........
It is a big step up to the Championship and it might take a game or two for the Seasiders to adjust, but I have to take a little on them today after bad mouthing Bristol City for at least two seasons and their "new" head coach agreed with me at the end of last season ........
City have posted bottom 5 numbers for the second season in a row and are finally in a position which their performances across 91 games has merited. New head coach Nigel Pearson is of the same thinking and has openly said almost none of the players are good enough, or words to that effect.
It feels like Pearson is in mid clear out, he has got rid of some deemed surplus to requirements, but still has others he clearly doesn't want or rate, he has bought in just three so far, so is very short numbers wise, certainly of players he really wants. Two of the additions are veterans he knows well from when the trio were at Leicester City in Matty James and Andy King (useless fact, his younger sister used to babysit for my daughters), who could be good back at this level, but it doesn't always work and this is very much a task in progress and a club starting from a very low level. City's 18 points from their last 25 starts, was beyond awful and equates to 33 points over a full season, which would have seen them finish bottom, 11 points from safety. A big job for Pearson awaits and possibly another difficult season for City supporters .
They started well enough and are 9th currently , but lost 2-0 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday and they should have been four down at half time instead of two, the Cherries barely broke sweat from that point, but still had 74% possession and whilst we all know that means little in modern football, it is an enormous number on the road in such a competitive league as the Championship, especially when that team is easing off and it should have alarm bells going off loudly at Ashton Gate. City are once again bottom 4 for expected numbers and this is a club with a super rich and largely indulgent owner , who have been bottom six statistically for getting on for three seasons and something is very wrong in the red half of Bristol.
Forest won for us at Birmingham City (3-0) just before the international break and are on the rise............
Forest have parted ways with Chris Hughton which I feel sorry about, it was coming for weeks, but he inherited a mess and couldn't find a solution. Steve Cooper has now taken over after waiting on the sidelines for some time, while compensation was sorted out with Swansea. As is often the way, there was an immediate response and Forest are unbeaten in three (two with Cooper at the helm) with two wins, both on the road, including 3-1 at Barnsley in midweek and it has to be said that the players are showing effort they never showed for Hughton. Forest averaged just 0.67 xGF through their first 7 starts, they have won the xG battle in the last three and recorded a season high xGF of 1.86 in midweek. The visitors are finally heading in the right direction and City are finding it so hard to create and to win at home, good odds for the away win.
They followed up at home to Blackpool on Saturday , just 2-1 but they created 5 BC's and an xG of over 2.5 , were worthy of more and, 5-6 weeks ago they would have found a way to draw or lose that. They have 13 points from five starts, are very well suited to playing on the road, scoring 8 goals in three away wins in that sequence and this sleeping giant has awoken from it's slumbers.
2 units Nottingham Forest -0.25 ball 2.28 asian line.
Good luck !
