Serie A betting preview: Catania - Roma
May 04, 2014
Just a few lines about one of today's key Serie A fixtures......
I would not be totally surprised by an upset here and do not see Catania as a lost cause, they have a very good record in this fixture, not losing in seven h2h meetings. Their need for all three points is great, a draw has no meaning at all and for Roma it is the same story, as that would simply hand the title to Juve this afternoon and they at least want to make the leaders earn it tomorrow evening. However, deep down they know it is a lost cause and regardless of what they do, the Scudetto is heading to Turin.
Hosts last three home starts have all produced at least three goals and they scored twice against Sampdoria and Napoli in those and I see this ending similarly 2-3. 2-4, maybe even 3-2.
Catania need to put in a "shift" today, supporters were not happy after the heavy defeat at Verona last week, abuse was being freely handed out at the airport upon their return and this could get nasty if home fans do not see maximum effort this afternoon.
Radja Nainggolan (32-4-3) is suspended for this match and this weakens Roma in the centre with Kevin Strootman (25-5-5) already sidelined and top scorer Mattia Destro (18-13-2) also misses out, but this is not a team lacking goalscoring options.
The "over" three goal line is definitely an option if you can find circa 2.0 as I see little downside, both to score looks solid , but is way below my minimum betting odds, but that might not be the case for you. I like Catania to score "over" 1.5 goals which is a general 3.75-4.0 and this market will be freely traded "in running" so I will make that my official selection for 1.25 units.
Good Luck.
